2021 Cadillac XT6

In a serious effort to claw its way back into the luxury market, the GM subsidiary Cadillac seems to be improving its line of products with much much greater efforts and it’s pretty evident from the mid range SUV Cadillac XT6. Well it’s not just the XT6 proved itself as a last resort for the Cadillac brand but also made way for new luxury, performance oriented and stunning SUVs from the brand.

With the 2021 Cadillac XT6, the US-based car manufacturer General Motors enters the second year for the brand new luxury midsize crossover SUV. Introduced in January 2019 in North America this Cadillac lineup was the first to have seven seats. The XT6 is Cadillac’s third crossover SUV till now and is the largest among the XT series. It has been slotted between the XT5 and the Standard full-size Escalade.

With the model Still fresh, you expect the same with the 2021 Cadillac XT6 to carry over with the 2020 year model with no notable change. The new 2021 Cadillac XT6 has no official news related to its release date, but you expect to be in summer 2020 based on the current module schedule. We expect the price to be between $53,690 to $58,090. For the sake of this review, you would take the 2020 Cadillac XT6 as a base model and compare it to the upcoming 2021 version.

What’s New in the 2021 Cadillac XT6?

XT6 is a brand new opening for the Cadillac lineup. Expected to be the same as the Cadillac 2020 model. We expect the engine performance to be enhanced. Luxury and tech can also be inflated. The XT6 will continue with the 2 trims- Premium Luxury and Sport. The Sport is the top in the line trim and comes in only AWD and gets all the bells and whistles that you would expect from a Cadillac. The 2021 Cadillac XT6 lineup is expected to be priced $53690(expected) for the premium Luxury FWD “Standard” trim and goes over $58090(expected) for the top of the line AWD “Sport”, as per sources.

Which Cadillac XT6 trim should you buy?

Both have almost the same features and the Sport Trim is not so convincing so you can save money by choosing the Premium Luxury. We can upgrade XT6 by adding the Comfort and Air Quality package (heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and an air ionizer) as well as the optional second-row captain’s chairs, in-dash navigation, etc.

How does the Cadillac XT6 power itself?
For the 2021 model year, the company has not made any major changes with the XT6 power-train. The XT6 comes with a 3.6L V6 LGX engine, With 310 horses under its hood and 271 lb-ft of torque mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission with next-generation Electronic Precision Shift. A choice of AWD and FWD is offered. The 9-speed transmissions provide a better fuel economy with more precise performance.

How fast is the 2021 Cadillac XT6?

The 2021 model XT6 performance figures have not been released officially. All-new 2020 Cadillac XT6 has impressive acceleration stats. It can sprint to 60 mph from a standstill in 7.7 seconds and complete a quarter-mile drag race in just under 15.2 seconds. However, the upcoming 2021 model is expected to bring in some performance tweaks and refinements to improve these sluggish figures.

How is the Ride and Handling of the Cadillac XT6?

The Cadillac XT6 steering and suspension is tuned to give a firm with its docile ride and confidence-inspiring handling. The XT6 maintains rock-solid composure at high speeds and the supple suspension keeps the harshness and noise at bay.XT6 ride quality is comfortable however you may feel the occasional bump over, particularly at uneven roads. You may get a stiff ride with an optional of 22-inch wheel setup but the SUV holds its ground nicely thanks to its balanced steering. On the downside, the car-based SUV feels more athletic and comfy than the truck-based XT6. The vehicle also plunges a bit when strong brakes are applied. Inside the city limits, maneuvering this 198.5-inches long SUV is comparatively easier than the rest of the segment. Also, the steering is too light at low speeds. We expect the same in the 2021 Cadillac XT6.

The braking performance of the 2020 Cadillac XT6 is pretty impressive. Being a mid size SUV it’s brakes perform very well for the class. It is provided or equipped with four sets of disc brakes with ABS. The 12.6 inches and12.4 inches front and rear brake motors help XT6 to stop from 60-0 mph in just 128 feet. We expect braking improvement in the 2021 Cadillac XT6 with bigger brake rotors.

The FWD XT6 has fuel economy figures of 17 mpg, 24 mpg, and 20 mpg for the city, highway, and combined respectively. If you opt for the AWD XT6, the fuel economy figures remain unchanged. Though with the bigger 22 gallons tank, the Terrain provides a combined range of 413 miles and a highway range of 489 miles.

We expect the 2021 model to come with engine refinements and some improved fuel economy figures. Unlike most of its rivals, the XT6 also has an upper hand on the competition as it uses the cheaper fuel(Regular Fuel).

Interior Appointments

The  XT6 seats come standard with leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. It is also likely to receive a refreshed interior with more designs and interior features. Cargo space is very limited behind the third row with the vacancy of only three suitcases in our testing. but the cargo speed can be increased by lowering the third and second-row seats to their flat position. After that, you can fit 31 carry-ons in total. We expect Cadillac would offer more cargo space in the upcoming XT6. All the Cadillac XT6 2020 have following infotainment features:

Eight-inch touchscreen display
Apple CarPlay
Android Auto
Onboard Wi-Fi
Wireless smartphone charging
Onboard DVD player.
Bose 8-speaker sound system

What will the 2021 Cadillac XT6 look like?

Cadillac 2021 XT6 has a length and width of 198.5 and 77.3 inches, respectively. Comparing with the competition, Cadillac XT6 is the largest widest car among the segment. The styling of the exterior shell of the XT6 borrows a lot of cues from the Escalade and XT4. It features sharp lines that set this car apart from the competition. It’s distinguished from the related Enclave and Traverse with sharper angles and a more upright appearance. It borrows the XT4’s mesh grille and floating badge upfront from the Escalade’s tall and vertically oriented taillights in the rear too.

In terms of build quality, the Cadillac has scored maximum points when pitted against the crash tests by NHTSA or the IIHS. The NHTSA assigned five-star overall safety rating, with five stars on every crash test except for four stars on rollover risk, which few crossover SUVs ever ace. The three-row SUV earns an almost perfect 9 out of 10. We expect the same in the Cadillac XT6 upcoming model. Some of these advanced safety features are listed below:

Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking
Night vision
Lane Change Alert
Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning
Forward collision alert
Front and Rear park assist
Automatic Safety Belt Tightening

Should you Consider the XT6?

We would suggest buying this car due to its power, also its simple style, both inside and out, allows for uncomplicated views and controls but it still needs to enhance its several items such as its cargo space and its engine noise due to its hard acceleration. Finally, its lack of available trims may pull consumers toward other vehicles. We hope the car focused on its items that you mention in its upcoming Cadillac XT6.
